Is my RAM dead or misconfigured? New build

So, my new build wouldnt post or beep so I went through the awesome no post trobleshooting checklist that's around here and I confirmed that my ram is the issue. If I power on the system without the ram I get the 'no ram' long beeps, and when I put it on I get silence, and no post.

I got a few sticks from a friend and when I put them in it works perfectly, so I'm absolutely sure that my stick is the issue here.

My question is: can I reliably confirm that my ram is dead, or is there any bios configuration I can try to make it work?
The latter seems weird, since I'd have to power it with my friend's ram on to get to the bios, then turn it off and put my stick in to try that.

Build details:

  • CPU: AMD FX 4300 Black Edition
    MOBO: Gigabyte GA 78LMT S2
    RAM: Supertalent 8 GB DDR3 1600 MHz
    PSU: Sentey BRP Power 500W
Thanks in advance.

Solution
Try in another rig and if you can borrow a different stick from somebody to check your rig, it might be CPU or mobo. If a different stick works, make sure you have the latest BIOS

I haven't tried that yet, good idea. Is there anything else I can try with what I have here?
I know supertalent isn't very good, I wanted a kingston stick but they were out of stock. It isn't easy to get exactly what you want in Argentina, imports are scarce and expensive.

Thank you for your reply

My rig works smoothly with borrowed sticks.
Today I'll try updating my BIOS and tomorrow I'm returning the borrowed ram and taking mine with me to try it in my friend's rig.

I'll get back here with updates, if you come up with something else I can try please let me know.

Thank you for your response.
