Earlier i reformatted my SSD containing my OS (Win7 64bit). All of my games were kept on my other internal 1TB hard drive.

I have just reinstalled Steam and now whenever i try and launch a game, whether it's a big demanding game or a 100mb indie game, everything will hang on launch for about 30-45 seconds. I didn't have this issue before my reformat and everything launched almost instantly.

I have just installed the latest drivers for everything after this fresh install too so i'm clueless as to what could be causing the issue.

Any help would be very appreciated.

Just an update, i have just installed a few more games to test and a few of them are not doing it, thus it cannot be an issue with say 3D apps in general. Still any kind of steps to troubleshoot would be great as i have no clue what to do next.

Hi, thanks for your reply. This issue is driving me insane since i literally did not have the issue 24 hours ago before i reformatted. Yes, i have a Gigabyte Z87X-D3H so i went here and installed from the top of the list downwards. I downloaded the drivers i thought i required, skipped the Intel INF installation and the SATA/RAID driver only.

Still having the issue, although i have managed to find a weird symptom. It is only for steam based games. If i run the same game via steam, it will hang but if i run the .exe without steam open it launches instantly as you would expect. At the end of my rope trying to find a fix or some kind of troubleshooting. Have reinstalled OS twice now and still regretting the initial reinstall that caused this error!

I just had the same issue. I reformatted my SSD (as my OS drive). All of my games were on my storage drive. After the reformatting, all games would crash about 30 seconds after launch.

Here's the fix:
In your games library, there is a list of all games on the left side of the window. Right click on the game you would like to fix, and go to properties.
From the properties window, click on the Local Files tab at the top.
In the Local Files tab, click on Verify Integrity of Game Cache.
Let steam double check and fix the installation and then launch the game normally. That should do it! Good luck sir.
