If you really want good gaphics, on a budget, without spending over three hundred dollars you probably want to get a card with an R9 280 or 280X chipset. Obviously it won't be the best card out there but it's significantly cheaper than other cards that don't offer drastic improvements in gaming performance. If you want decent branded R9 290 card the price instantly jumps up to around 350.00.
That's about 410.00US. So with that in mind you could go with something like this:

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant

CPU: AMD FX-8350 4.0GHz 8-Core Processor ($174.98 @ OutletPC)
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-970A-UD3P ATX AM3+ Motherboard ($73.98 @ OutletPC)
Video Card: Sapphire Radeon R9 270 2GB Dual-X Video Card ($155.38 @ Newegg)
Total: $404.34

I know you mentioned ASUS on the MB and ATI on the card but with the CPU you have selected as a starting point and the budget you loosely outlined you won't come anywhere near that budget with a decent ASUS board and ATI card in there. If you don't care about the price and are more concerned with compatibility and performance and have to have those brands you could go with something like this. Keep in mind, you still need RAM and I'd highly recommend a better CPU cooler unless you already have compatible RAM and a cooler capable of keeping the 8350 cool.:

I don't know if you really want to go with any of the ATI cards as it seems like they have a lot of issues with certain games, but I'm not really a gamer so I can't verify this as a fact. One of the gamers can chime in on this. I really think for the prices involved I'd go with a Radeon or Nvidia chipset.
