Hi all,

first off, here are my specs: http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/user/EricTheRed93/saved/RRwk...

My question is about the PCI-E cable from my power supply to video card. The power cable has one connection to the PSU and two 8-pin connections to the GPU.

Is it okay to use this one cable for both video card PCI-E power slots? Or should I use 2 cables (even though that means leaving one connector empty on each cable). I want to choose the option that is best for providing power to the GPU and will not overload the PSU or anything.

2 Cables just to be safe, Although you could do it with 1 Cable.

i think the PSU you selected is overkill - you can easily be within 80% load of a 600W PSU

I chose the PSU because of future upgrade potential. I know its overkill for what I have right now. But my question remains: should I use 2 cables or 1

You only need to use 1, There is a reason its there.

better to use both cable...the MSI GTX 770 2gb needs two PCI-e cables to power it.... one is a 8 pin connector the other one is a 6 pin connector....

normally a PSU has 2 or more PCI-e cable either it is a 6 pin connector or an 6+2(8) pin connector.... in ur case the GPU need two 8 pin connector....

sorry about tht.... u need two 8 pin connector....

It actually uses two 8-pin connectors.

it would be wise to use 2 cables seeing that it can draw up to 320W under load

You only need to use 1 cable. The wires in the cable are more than sufficient for the currents being drawn and the connectors can easily handle it. The PSU designer wouldn't have put two connectors on a single cable if you couldn't use it that way. The reason the GPU has two connectors on it is because the 6 pin connector is spec'd as providing 75W of power, and the 8 pin is spec'd as providing 150W. These specs are super arbitrary and mostly just to help PSU/GPU makers keep people from using PSUs that are too weak to support certain cards by not providing them with the connectors.
