Windows 8 or 7?

Hello, I am shortly going to build my own PC and am unsure which windows OS I should get. Windows 8 is newer but i prefer the layout of 7, is this a good enough reason to get 7? Or should I get 8? will I be missing out on something if I don't get 8?

You will get a 50/50 blend of opinions for Win 7 vs Win 8.

I much prefer 8/8.1. And with 8.1, you never have to see the Metro UI unless you want to. Boot directly into Desktop mode.
Adding in DirectX 11/12 among other things...and 8 looks a lot better.
