So I'm going to university away from home this upcoming september. I plan on bringing my custom gaming rig as well as a cheap light laptop, but right now I'm concerned a little on space. Not sure if a Cooler Master HAF 912 will be able to fit in my dorm (I have a suite style dorm) or should I put all my components into a Bitfenix Prodigy and mini itx board. Are there any differences between a mini its and a regular atx motherboard in terms of performance? Also, can I use windows from my old mobo into a new mobo? Since I going to be living in a new residence they don't have dimensions :p

Solution
As long as you have only one GPU, changing board will not affect performance at all.

If you have WIN7 you will need to reinstall windows, and you will need a new CD key.

With WIN8.1, if the motherboard is the same brand, you might not have to reinstall it, and you can use the same CD key after activating it over the phone.
