I have a machine running off of an MSI MS-7207 Ver. 2 motherboard, with 4GB of RAM and a 300W power supply. It boots and runs perfectly fine on its own. I have a GeForce GT 610 1GB video card, but when I plug it into the motherboard and try to boot, the fans whir like crazy, and then calm down, and then I get 2 beeps. I know the beeps signify a parity error in memory, but I ONLY get them when booting with the video card; take the card back out, everything boots fine. Also good to note: the machine runs Xubuntu, and I have already installed the necessary drivers for the card. When attempting to boot with the video card, I still have the display hooked up through the onboard video card. When going through BIOS, I verified that the PCIe slot is the default video space.

I am running out of ideas at this point, and I have been battling with this computer to get it to work for almost a year. I just want to be able to use this video card.

Solution
Actually, found out what the problem was: while my power supply met the minimum requirements for the video card, because it only met the minimum requirements and was powering other things as well, it didn't actually have enough juice to power everything. Furthermore, the amps may have been short (if I read the power supply's label correctly, it has 12A on the 12V rail, instead of the 16A).
