I want to build a PC for rendering mostly still 1 frame architectural visualizations but which can also do some animation. Software used will include Revit, AutoCAD, Rhino, 3Ds MAX; I do not use real time rendered viewports. As I am not an expert, looking for opinions on if the provided specs will work well. My budget is $1500. Thank you for any help.

Specs:

CPU: Intel Core i7-4770K 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor ($312.99 @ Amazon)

CPU Cooler: Xigmatek Prime SD1484 90.3 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler ($29.99 @ Amazon)

Motherboard: Asus Z97-PRO(Wi-Fi ac) ATX LGA1150 Motherboard ($209.98 @ SuperBiiz)

Memory: Patriot Viper 3 32GB (4 x 8GB) DDR3-1600 Memory ($288.74 @ Amazon)

Such a weak graphics card, I'd say drop the K on the CPU, get an H97 motherboard and get a better GPU.

Would you be gpu or cpu rendering?

Unless you upgrade the gpu or reuse it, you won't really recoup the extra cost of going with a gold psu.

But even if you still want gold, you can save some money with this one.

Here's a 750ti, it's cheaper and better.

What is the reasoning for that mobo? If it's for ac, it's cheaper to just get an adapter.

MB was chosen based on compatability w/ CPU and the ability to have 32+ Gigs of RAM. Not married to it. I wan tto run this computer from my laptop and I do need to be able to connect to this PC remotely using a service such as Log Me In when I am not able to connect directly over WiFi. The onboard Wifi for this board seemed handy.

Hi there

In general I would choose maybe better CPU Cooler if you are thinking get overclock and gain on the rendering performance

I'm still using older i7-920 overclock'd and I've gained a lot in rendering,in Rendering you will be throttling the CPU more and due this I would choose better CPU cooler/heatsink and overclock to nice 4.2GHz

GPU yes I would choose 750ti,but depends on the more factors I would go with R9 series

Assume you are looking just using this PC as slave render machine or you want only use this PC only for rendering ?

You will be using 3DS MAX and other SW on this PC only for rendering or you will be actually modelling with this PC?

Thanks,Jura
