I got rome total war which is compatible with my os, I have direct x 11, problem is my computer is having fits switching between the desktop and the game every time a break in the game occurs, eg start and end of a video segment, start and end of a level, this isn't right and these swapping fits go on for well over a minute, and I'm worried its gonna damage my computer as well as the fact that it is very inconvenient, I don't suppose anyone has the answer to this little anomaly. it does say on the box that some cards may not be compatible with the 3d acceleration features used by the game. Is this what is causing the problem and is there a fix for it?

It could just be a background program that keeps trying open while you're playing. Make sure all other programs are turned off, might even want to shut off your anti-virus if you're not connected to the internet.
