Partlist: http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/p/TJ7cGX (don't mind the Beats pro cable in custom parts)

My build is currently to expensive for me, I need to get it closer to 1800-1750£.
Keep in mind that I want to keep it red themed and I want superior GPU and CPU preformance, but I'll read any advices you give me. Feel free to edit the parlist i linked.

I'll try to check this thread as often as possible to answer any questions.

Thank you!
-Lars

The 4790k is 0.5 Ghz faster than the 4690k outta the box and is the better overclocker so I won't argue there.

The 100i is extremely noisy and you will get within a degree or so with the RED air cooler.....saves 25 £

If you are dead set on a CLC, get an OLC instead .... will cost ya a little bit more up front but save loads down the road when you expand the loop to cool the GFX cards. The Swiftech crushes any CLC on the market and does it 20 dbA quieter. It will also allow you to connect to the CrossChill block on your MoBo.... and Yes, it has a red cover plate so light on the CPU block will be red.

Go The i5-4960K Route. It's less expensive, but has close to no performance loss.

Go with a H80, or get a high-end fan cooler. Use good thermal paste, as that will improve the performance.

Get a MSI Z97 PC Mate, they're great and they overclock very well.

The WD Blue has horrendous performance.... 63rd on THGs performance list......no way to better cut cost with minimal performance impact than to drop the SSD and HD for an SSHD.... Saves £40

The MSI 780 (954 MHz) tops the Asus (889 MHz) one in performance and is much quieter and saves £40 on 2 cards

If buying EVGA PSU, you want the G2 model.

I don't think Corsair cable kits work on EVGA PSUs....Corsair and Seasonic X series for example are not cross-compatible. Perhaps you can find someone still stocking the HX850.

As for the MoBo, I understand the attraction to the Formula. I have one myself. If you decide to go M6F tho, you will need to use something older than a 4790k in it to upgrade the BIOS . Once the BIOS is flashed, THEN yoiu can install a 4790k

Substantial savings in case £23 .... and yoiu can set case LED to red, built in fan control,

the maximus vii formula contains a sound card and a wireless network card, which are both pretty much needed for me, but i'm thinking of downgrading to maximus vi farmula as it's 50£ cheaper, but thanks for your answer natos, but i'll should've mentioned that i do alot of animating and video editing, so i7 is important for me, i almost ripped my brain appart choosing 8gb over 16gb memory.

The H80 is a rather poor cooler..... gets soundly beat by any decent air cooler.....The $25 Hyper 212 is on par with the H80. There is not a single 120mm/140mm CLC made that can compete with the better air coolers.

I wouldn't down grade the MoBo either, cost savings from other items more than offsets it ... and how you gonna install the 4790K ? .... M6F doesn't support 4790k w/o a BIOS upgarde that you can't do w/o having an older CPU installed.

Video editing isn't going to cut it with the action taking place on th WD Blue....almost dead last in THG charts

-The upgrade to the MSI cards saves £40
-The upgrade to the SSHD saves £40
-The upgrade to the case saves £23
-The case upgrade negates the need for the extra fans saves £50
-The upgrade to a better (air) cooler saves £23

Better yet .... keeping the Z97 M7F and upgrading to the more expensive Swiftech cooler has your original build at maybe £1908 or £1915 ....So you need to shed £115 to hit $1800 target

-The upgrade to the MSI cards saves £40
-The upgrade to the SSHD saves £40
-The upgrade to the case saves £23
-The case upgrade negates the need for the extra fans saves £50 ... leaving you with about £38 to spend

If ya worried about temps.... the £38 left should get ya 3 or 4 of em.

The Swiftech gives you dual cooling with a copper radiator instead of the aluminum on the CLC H80 and you can open / expand the loop to include the MoBo Block (M7F / M6F is a bit of a waste if ya don't use it....that block adds about $75 to the cost. as well as your GFX cards at some point.

I believe there was a article on Tom's about Asus cards giving you color sticker to your GPU to match with your theme.
Going with the red theme, this motherboard supports 2-way SLI or CFX and full x16/x16
Most 1150 boards only does x8/x8 when running in 2-way SLI or CFX including that Asus Maximus VII Formula you've picked.
