So I got a build I was thinking of saving money for but I don't know if I did it good enough or if it will run with minimal lag, here's the build.

You could run Skyrim on ultra but I dont know about arma 3 and dayz, although you could run those games at high.

You won't get great FPS with ultra settings on DayZ or Arma. They are both very CPU intensive.

NO chance will you max Arma 3 or DayZ. Even i7 +gtx770 rigs can't max those games. Expect medium settings on those.

Also that build uses 3 year old parts. Why?

What parts would you recommend for Arma and DayZ?

May I suggest a build: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/XWRjBm

Would I be better off with an i7?

Don't get a CX series PSU, and if you're not getting a K CPU you don't need a Z series motherboard.

If you've only got $900 to spend than no you won't as the price of the i7 isn't equal to it's performance increase over the i5 and the extra price means you would have to cut back in other areas so it won't be very balanced.

I have as much as I'm able to work for I don't have a limit technically but I'd like to go for 900 - 1500 so I wouldn't have to work for that long to get it.

If you want to run Arma and DayZ on ultra than i'd say you need to spend at least $1100 on a complete build. You're better off asking when you have the money as prices will change but as an idea, i've got a similar setup to this and I can run DayZ on ultra, although it gets spotty in towns occasionally.
