Sending my rig through mail?

Hey guys, I'm moving across 7 states and I was wondering how I should ship my computer. Should I ship it with all the computer hardware attached inside? Or... should I take it apart and put it in it's original retails boxes and ship it that way.

Also anyone know the average price of sending a gaming rig over through mail? My pc seems pretty heavy!

i recently just shipped my friends alienware through ups, and they told me it would be 250$ to ship it. (florida to California)
i think it should be perfectly safe to ship it through mail.
