So I got a new computer and when I plug my headphones in I cant use the mic and hear sound at the same time which is very annoying. Ive tried using line in, mic in, headphone stting and none worked....On my old labtop I could just plug it and bam it works. Its the realtek HD audio thing.

Here, I googled this and found a website with answers and explanations about headsets and headphones and laptops.

So, to clarify, your headphones are in fact a headset, where they have a mic built in?
Do they have 1 mini connection where you would plug it in on your laptop, or does it have 2 separate ones (usually labled Mic and Headphones)?
If the headphones only have 1 jack, then they wont work with your desktop audio because they have a special connector that only works in certain types of connections that your laptop has (cell phones have it also), but desktops don't have.

an easy way to check is, "Does the headphone cord connection have 3 black lines, or 2 black lines?"

If 3, then it wont work with your desktop audio connections in the same way as the laptop.
If, however, you are still at the top of this page saying, "It has 2 plugs, 1 labeled 'Mic' and 1 labeled 'audio' and it still doesn't work!"
Then, I don't know.
