Monitor turns off then on again issue with led monitor on older (2011) hardware.
Problem solved by swapping out the 2012 led monitor with the original 2011 lcd monitor.

Question...
Why does the led (2012) monitor not work properly with the 2011 hardware?

Summary...
upgraded from fedora 18 to fedora 20 on 2011pc using fedup
led monitor would turn off and back on randomly (2-5 minute intervals)
Note: this issue is NOT a fedup related problem. Note also the 2012pc has been upgraded to fedora 20 too. Did this one first.

Background to issue...
Both machines are desktops. ie "bang for buck" build during 2011 and then same one year later ($1k budget both times)
Monitors bought around same time as both builds. ie 2011 monitor is lcd and the 2012 monitor is of led type. Both are Benq 24"inch.

Symptoms...
Apart from the screen going blank (black and fully off) during the "off" cycle, there was a very thin line of pixel aberrations at the very top of the led monitor during "on" cycle (ie monitor working normally).

Details...
When the 2012pc was built I gave the newer led monitor to the 2011pc machine (ie wifey:) and used the 2011 lcd monitor with my 2012pc build. All and good during fedora upgrades till this latest round to fedora 20 when this problem arose.
Both monitors use the same dvi-d cable type.

Software...
2011pc
sudo lspci|grep -i vga
fedora 18

fedora 20

2012pc

No doubt there is an answer and decided to post this question after much searching.
