Power supply question

I'm replacing most of my PC parts and wondering if my old power supply is suitable for gaming. The model is HP-W700WC. It's a a relatively old 700w power supply.

Are there any differences between this PS and the modern one's, other than power and reliability?

Solution
You must ensure your Power Supply has the right combination of PCIe x16 power connectors to support whatever Graphics Card you're running in your rig.

Some GPUs don't require any power connectors (they get all their power from the PCIe x16 slot). Some require one or two PCIe x16 6-pin connectors and some require one or two PCIe x16 8-pin connectors. There are also some that want one PCIe x16 6-pin and one PCIe x16 8-pin.

As the poster above mentioned, a 'modular' PSU is preferable to one that isn't since modular PSUs allow you to attach and remove power connectors from the PSU unit itself. This allows you to keep a tidy case, not use more cables than you need and also potentially purchase PCIe x16...

As the poster above mentioned, a 'modular' PSU is preferable to one that isn't since modular PSUs allow you to attach and remove power connectors from the PSU unit itself. This allows you to keep a tidy case, not use more cables than you need and also potentially purchase PCIe x16 cables of the pin-format necessary for your chosen Graphics Card without needing to buy a whole new PSU.

It's also worth noting how many amps your PSU can support on the +12v rail. There will be a minimum number required by various Graphics Cards and if your PSU can't supply it then your GPU won't function optimally, or at all.
