I have been wanting to buy a gaming PC for quite some time now and decided that I'm going to build my own to save money and because I think it would be quite fun. I have a budget of around £800, it can go to around £850 if needs be though. I already have a monitor ( Asus VG248QE ) which is an amazing monitor if anyone is looking for one. Don't need a keyboard or mouse either.
I have came up with this build - http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/p/J9r923
I am most likely going to overclock which is why I got the 'k' version CPU, but I don't know if the motherboard is bad and would be difficult to overclock with & would my PC be cool enough if overclocked? Also is my choice of PSU decent enough?

Please feel free to change anything on the list and tell me what advantage I would have having this component over that component etc.

Thanks in advance!

P.S this might be a stupid question but do all motherboards have an optical(toslink) output? And if yes does this mean I can connect my astro a40 + mixamp and get Dolby digital just like I would on console?

You should get a full sized motherboard, mainly because smaller boards require you to get lower profile ram and smaller cpu coolers, also, you say you want to oc and the micro atx boards have components closer together so heat is trapped easier hence increasing temp if you overclock, I'd suggest you get a proper sized motherboard

Nice build and thanks for the reply but I don't need a monitor or wireless network adapter so what component should I spend the extra money on?

I'll remove those and be back with a better one. ;)

Solution

Adroid

Distinguished
Get the 4690K and a Z97 motherboard, NOT a Z87 motherboard.

If you get the Z87 motherboard you may need to flash the BIOS for it to be compatible. In other words, unless you have another Haswell CPU laying around to update the BIOS with, the Z87 and 4690K will not work together.

I already changed that. ;)

Thanks I think I'm going to go with this build;)
So will this exact build be fairly easy or is there any noticeable problems I may face when building this? If there is please let me know!

You definitely would not face any problems. That build would also pretty much run every single game you throw at it.
