New build was working fine, suddenly stopped

Hi guys and girls
I put together a new system the other day from Scan. It was one of their bundle deals. One of the new 20th anniversary Haswells, 8gb of Corsair Vengeance, a Gigabyte GA-Z87-D3HP mobo, a 1tb Seagate HD and a 500w Coolermaster PSU.

Did the build, all went well, I ran prime95 on the CPU for about 6 hours, all good, temp never went above 55, did Memtest for 8 passes, all fine. Left it sitting there on for about 24 hours with nothing running, all fine. I then installed a game on steam, restarted and now the machine wont boot at all.

The fans spin up, you hear HD activity, then it powers off and starts up again and does exactly the same thing, spins up for a second, then off, then on again.

I have tried disconnecting the dvd and hd, the front audio and usbs, tried moving the two ram sticks from slots 1 and 3 to slots 2 and 4, nothing, still the same. Tried clearing the bios with a jumper, tried leaving the bios battery out for ten mins, nothing.

Any ideas please as I am starting to panic a little.

I think the place to start here is the PSU, although CM does have some super PSU's in their lineup (V Series comes to mind), they also have some duds. First make sure all connectors are firmly in place. If all is well there, what is the model of your CM PSU, there is some overlap in some of the model names, the model number is best for me (RS-500-PCAR-A3 or...) ?

I have tried it with another PSU I had knocking about here. Exactly the same. Tried a barebones, mobo out of case on mobo box with just the ram and cpu in. Exactly the same.

I have spoke to Scan and they reckon the CPU shouldn't have worked at all because the board isn't capable of doing the new Devils Canyon chip without a bios update, though this doesnt explain why it worked fine for 48 hours.

I am RMAing them back. Thanks for the reply though.

Okay, my only response here is... WOW, very interesting. It's also got me wondering how it worked in the first place...

I'll leave this tab open and update it when it gets resolved, because its a bit of a head scratcher at the moment. It seems strange they would sell a bundle deal that had incompatible parts.
