I'm searching for a street driving game with somewhat realistic controls where you follow the rules and has a 'in-car' view.
My PC specs are: 1 GB RAM, 1.6 GHz AMD Sempron 3000+, 512 MB VRAM and has WinXP SP3

More about : good driving game

Try Need for Speed: Shift
But those are some ancient PC specs, I don't think you can run anything very new on that.

Maybe look at some Need for speed games from 10 years ago. They might bo your only chance. Try Need for Speed Porshe Unleashed, or the older Test Drive games. Trackmania may run on that system as well, but I'm not sure.

NFS Shift will not run on his system since he most likely can't support the DX it needs, not to mention how hard it is allready on todays mid range systems at high-ultra settings.. I would say he needs to look into DX 9 games or earlier at the very least. Maybe even DX 7 and lower.. OUCH!

"where you follow the rules" I said, so NFS gets out of the topic by that, I don't think that you will get Game Over is you drive on red light or on the wrong side of the street., I play NFS Most Wanted, but I'm not searching for racing game.

PS: Nice comment Agera One, made me laugh for a while...

I know I can't run anything new, but games from around 2007 knda work (Sims 3, stalker CoP, GTA SA...)

And most of my games require DX8 or 9, they run w/o problems

Race driver G.R.I.D. may run then. It's kinda half arcade, half sim. Maybe the first Dirt game as well. Don't forget the old test drive games as well: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Test_Drive_(series) You will have to manually copy paste the link to get to the right page. Look to the games from 2006 back. They are mostly racing sim games, well for their time anyway.

I've found a game that I think it will do the job: http://www.3dfahrschule.de/uk_index.htm
Also I found another game called Driving Simulator 2009, but it pissed me off very fast with it's weird engine sound, no one else has the problem (at least I didn't find anyone)

If someone has more recommendations, share them :-)

Shift will run. Just not great.

System Requirements
OS: Windows XP (Service Pack 3) / Windows Vista (Service Pack 2) / Windows 7
Processor: 1.6GHz Intel Core2 or faster/AMD X2 3800+ or faster
Memory: (Windows XP) 1 GB RAM; (Windows Vista/Windows 7) 1.5 GB RAM
Graphics: 256 MB Video Card, with support for Pixel Shader 3.0*
DirectX®: DirectX 9.0c compatible
Hard Drive: 6 GB
Sound: DirectX 9.0c compatible
Controller Support: USB Steering Wheel/Dual Analog Gamepad
Online Multiplayer: 512 Kbps or faster; 2-8 players

G.T.R will run, but it's far from a "Street" Sim, and just a pure race sim. It's free with Bundle Stars right now/

Pretty sure it reuires Steam, I stay away from that program, nor I'm searching for racing games.
I can find and get racing games all the time, but the games that I search for seems to be rare (or a new genre?)

You stay away from Steam?
Alright.
Good luck.

Yes, that's right.
It's just that I never have enough disk space to get whatever I want, and only 25% of the games will BARELY run on my PC, most of them with very poor frame rate.

Stop trying to get blood from a stone. Even a modern APU setup would outperform what you have, for very little money.

If I come here asking for games with these specs, most likely I know how much stuff cost in my country and I don't have any money to get whatever I want.

Instead of buying more RAM or other stuff and then waiting for the PC to burn out because of it's aging, I would get a new PC, but in here a PC like mine with slightly better processor (2.0 GHz) costs around 400$, and I don't have the money to get it.

Think about it - if I had the money to upgrade, will I be even here asking for games?

PS: I'm not buying second-hand stuff, they always last half year and I have problems using them.

So how are you planning on getting these games then?
Are you asking us what games you can pirate and that's why you avoid Steam? I can run Steam on a Pentium III. It has minimal impact on resources as a background application, and it's maybe 50 MB. Plenty of free games on there, as well.

I had a lot of fun plying. Need for Speed Most Wanted and Need for Speed Underground 2. Undergroud is the one with no police, and so as you wanted a game where you have to follow the rules
I also played Need for Speed undercover, which i found a bit disappointing.
