Hello, I've been using a PC which was pre-built when I bought it, (I've been upgrading some parts over the years.) but a few weeks ago, I wanted to somewhat make my own build by purchasing some new parts and using some old. This is what I have in mind atm.

Case: Corsair Obsidian 750d

CPU: AMD FX 9590 (Using atm)

CPU Cooler: Using Noctua NH-U12S atm. May get an Corsair H100i. (Open for suggestions as long as the cooler component is not too complicated to manage.)

GPU: Gainward GTX 770

Motherboard: ASUS M5A99FX (Upgrading from the Crosshair V Formula which is not compatible with the 9590 CPU.)

PSU: some 750w corsair stuff

RAM: Some decent 8GB set

Will this work or is there something I should change?

Probably gonna OC both GPU and CPU

Read somewhere that the "cpu vrm" or something similar might get damaged without some cooling when using such a power consuming CPU.

Thanks

As hardware goes its pretty good but what temps are you getting with that cooler

I am hitting 60 celsius, if not the early 60's at load. Running at stock settings without turbo, because whenever I try to go above 4.7~4.8, the computer just freezes, and I have to reset it. I think it is the motherboard which does not support such high TDP CPU that causes the crash.

As for the CPU VRM, I'm not aware of what it temps were, because I'm not really a 100% sure what it is and does, and just found out that it is a thing on the motherboard that may need some attention in certain PC builds.

there is no such thing as cpu vram it does have cache they call it L1 L2 L3 its the super fast ram that is on the cpu. 60 is really close to the thermal limit will you post a pic of your temps

sorry vrm i read it wrong the first time yes the VRM does have heatsinks and need to stay cool they are the voltage regulators

if you get a small fan like a 90mm it will do a good job of cooling it

Hello, thanks for the quick replies!

I am not home atm, and therefore not able to snap a pic of my temps.
If you look at the crosshair v formula z mobo which you linked, where and how would I attach the fan? is there any special fans made for vrm's?

if you update your BIOS you can run that chip on that board. I had to do that for my chip on that board. That is the board i am running right now.

if you are looking at full loop it would be pretty freaking awesome
