i use minecraft to test all computer graphics cards that I have to find proformance because it is very easy to display the Frams per second by pressing F3. I find on windows 7 I get about 30 FPS
and on Ubuntu 14.04 LTS I Get 60 Fps all the time .this is on the same computer just to be clear. Why do I get double Frames per second on Ubuntu . I would like to know it is very interesting to me. ?

Does Minecraft have a V-Sync setting? Is it enabled on Windows and not on Ubuntu? V-Sync will reduce framerate but remove all instance of 'screen tearing' - the phenomenon of the image 'tearing' (showing horizontal splits) when you pan the camera from left-to-right or right-to-left.

Do you have different drivers installed on Ubuntu and Windows? These could also be responsible.
