Hello everyone

I'm becoming very frustrated because of a very strange crash.. Very often when I'm gaming or just browsing the internet, (half an hour, 2 hours,.., randomly )
Suddenly I get a kind of blue screen. It is not the typical blue screen but my screen becomes light blue or yellow/orange, with some horizontal lines in it. The log doesn't say anything about the error.

My specs:
i7-4770K CPU @ 3.50GHz
AMD Radeon HD6870
8GB RAM
ASRock Z87 Extreme 4 motherb.
OS Windows 7 64bit

If you need to know more info, please tell me!

Thanks!
Sam Deckers

screen becomes light blue or yellow/orange, with some horizontal lines in it

sounds like gpu overheating or just failing [opinion]

Could also be PSU failing. What brand is it?

Definitely sounds like a GPU issue.
It's a very weak GPU for your build anyway, replace it if you have the cash. :D

I thought firstly that it was overheating, however it never goes above 50-60°C, that's still a safe temperature?
So I downloaded "SpeedFan" to monitor the temps, but they are always around 50°-60°C..

Again, what PSU brand is it? If the GPU isn't the problem then the PSU most likely is.

Yeah, probably... what GPU do you recommend? Not the most expensive one, but still a good one...? Thanks..

It's weak considering he has an i7 4770K.
It's also very old.
A GTX 760, or an AMD 270X are both great options. :)
What would your budget be for a new GPU?

OP is kind of at a bad point here.
If he has an i7, he's obligated to get a very high end GPU, otherwise the GPU will have the performance of if it was with an i3/5. He should really try to get a GTX 770 or Radeon R9 280. Those are better options for his CPU.

I have no idea about the budget.., not more then 250-300€?

So a new GPU will likely solve the blue screens?.. It has nothing to do with my PSU?

770 seems to fall in that area. I know it should be close if not in that range.

He already just said
'Be quiet! dark power pro'

It's a plenty good PSU it's most likely not the problem.

@OP You could just try RMA'ing the card if it's not off warranty...

Will i need a new PSU then? because this one, is about somewhere in the 500 Watts and it is just enough for my setup..

I don't think OP is in the UK though since he specified 250 - 300 Euros..

@OP R9 280 or GTX 770 are your best options. Those should be great for your needs.

Ahh :(  go for a GTX 760, or an AMD 270X if you can.
They're amazing cards, and have a really good price/performance ratio. :)

I'll see, but if it has to do with overheating of the GPU, what can I do to improve airflow or cooling?

The temps you're getting are fine, the GPU must just be dying. :(
