Hello I want to play planetside 2 on my pc and tera rising. I want to add a gtx 780ti in the future. Will the i5 be able to keep up with the gtx 780ti without bottlenecking it?
Will the Intel HD 4600 be able to play games at kinda high settings?

Intel 4600 has no chance of playing games at high settings.
You'd be looking at low-med with an average FPS of like 30-60.

An i5 will suffice with a 780ti, although you'd get the 880 for cheaper WHEN you get that money in the future.

The I5 will handle a 780Ti no problems as its one of the best processors for gaming however The 4600HD Graphics will only play simple games at 720p medium settings with about 30 FPs

Well, you can try it.
That is really a good idea.
Static games like CIV4 play reasonably well on integrated graphics.
More so if you use faster ram.
I have done that.

Fast action shooters need more.

Using integrated first gives you a better idea of what you will really need later.

As to cpu chips, an I5 quad of some sort will be plenty . Few games use more than 2-3 of the 4 cores.

I suggest you use a good quality psu in the 620-750w range up front to permit the future install of a high powered card like the GTX780.

Question.
If you hyperthread on an i7, and a game uses 2 cores, will the game take 2 threads or 4.

It depends on how well it's optimized for multi-threaded CPUs.

I think a brick would be better. More density.

You'd need a thermonuclear reactor with cadmium rod stabilizers.

Perhaps a chunk of raw lead would be dense enough...

MAYBE GOLD.
PURE GOLD!
