Hard drive shows on one computer (Win7) and not the other (Win8)

I have been Googling around about how to see a newly installed hard drive. We just built a new computer and have Windows 8 installed on it, but the new hard drive won't show up on Disk Management. We were able to use our 6 year old computer to initialize it and make a new volume but once we plug it into the new computer nothing shows up. Neither explorer nor Disk Management will show the new hard drive.

tl;dr
New HDD shows up on old computer (win7), but not new computer (win8).

Solution

Are the power and SATA cable connected to your second harddrive?

make sure both of these cables are correctly plugged in and working, you may have to switch out your SATA cable for a different one.
also make sure the SATA cable is not bend too far, since that may cause data corruption or drive not showing up.

The drivers were installed and we formatted it on the old computer to make it appear on that one, but moving it to our new computer still shows nothing.
