Hello

Is using 2 different brands of RAM bad? They are the same speeds by the way, 1600mhz. Also both DDR3

My laptop (Skyfire IV 14" from PCSPECIALIST) has built in 4gb Kingston DDR3 SODIMM 1600mhz DDR3 RAM.

I want to add another 4gb, so I found "4GB 204-pin PC3L-12800 (1600 MHz) DDR3 SO-DIMM RAM Chip (for iMac 2012/2013)" on eBay. I know it says for iMac 2012/2013, but all computers and laptops use the same shape RAM right?

Or is there something specific I need to look for, such as SODIMM? Or should I just get the same kingston one?

Thanks

Get this application called cpu-z, it will tell you what your RAM voltages are, and get the ram voltage based on what cpu-z says :)

Oh ok, so would either of these work?
1 - Kingston KVR16S11S8/4 4GB 1600MHz CL11 DDR3 ValueRAM Memory Kit
2 - Kingston 4GB DDR3 SO-DIMM Laptop RAM, PC3-12800, 1600MHz, SODIMM Memory

The second one is £5 cheaper btw

why?

Oh ok thank you

Does anyone know if I need to buy 1.5v RAM or 1.35v? because the pcspecialist website doesn't make clear what voltage their ram is so I'm not sure. The CPU is Haswell i5-4210m, by the way.
