I have a Dell Inspirion E1505. It has 2gb of RAM, one gb in each slot. One slot is now bad. I tried to put a 2gb stick in the one good slot. I ordered a 2gb pc2-4200-533 ddr2 sodimm 200 pin, I got a 2gb 2rx8 pc2-4200s-444-12-zz....It dosen't work.. was this a foolish notion to begin with, or are these 2 memory sticks not the same?

I'm pretty sure that dell is limited to 1gb sticks.

If you read Specification, Page 156 you'll see
Quote:
Memory
Memory module connector two SODIMM connectors
Memory module capacities 256 MB, 512 MB, 1 GB, and 2 GB
Memory type 1.8-V SODIMM DDR-2
Minimum memory 256 MB
Maximum memory 2 GB

So, it seems that single 2GB should work, but max is stil 2gb.

When i put in the new memory, I get message that it needs to be re-seated, so I guess it's not going to work. Is there any way to run the bios when I get this type of message?
