Hello I am trying to remember what this piece of software from Cisco is called. I use to use it back in the day for my Cisco labs, and it was free from Cisco. The software was full of virtual routers, switches, WAP, and even PCs. You could install any interface card into the Cisco routers and switches. Use the console port just like hyper-terminal on a PC. With the software you can create a whole virtual network. With the PCs you could manually set the IP and have a CMD prompt and telnet from the virtual PCs. I remember using the software back in 2007 or 2009. But I just can't remember what it was called.

There are two most people use. Packet tracer sound like what you are talking about but it does not support the full IOS command set. It is mostly used for CCNA level people to get certs. The other is GNS3. This runs a actual IOS so more commands are supported but I don't think you can actually load switches versions and some of the advanced options in the IOS are not supported since they run on platforms GNS3 does not properly simulate. It depends on the level you need. They never would be good enough to do a practice ccie lab.
