Hello

Currently I have the following:

I5 2500k
ASUS P8Z77-M PRO
8gb
ssd and 2 hdd's
670 gtx 2gb
And either a corsair 850 tx or a Chieftec Nitro Series BPS-750C (can't remember which one I have in currently - can check, but in the end I want to downgrade nonetheless)

As you can see, there's plenty of extra power there and I looked through older posts and some other forums/reviews for a decent psu.
I would like a good psu that I can keep for a good few years (3-5 I suppose) and at some point I will upgrade the above to something better. Have thought about buying a gtx 780, but I'll most likely wait for the next cards (not in a hurry) and my cpu/board will need an upgrade in a few years.
So on to the psu - I thought around 500w would be decent if I want to make sure I have enough for an upgrade later on. I looked at the cooler master v550s, but it seems like people around here don't see it as good as the alternatives. Then I thought the Seasonic G-550 would be a nice choice, but it seems XFX Core Edition 550W is recomended more.
I don't mind paying the extra for the Seasonic if it's worth it. Of what I could see, I could only get the V2 of the XFX, is it as good as the first version?

Thanks!

There is no real need to downgrade. If you have a 900w PSU and your PC is only drawing 400w, then the PSU only puts out 400w and the other 500w aren't used.

Having more power is always better, in case you get close to the limits, there is more overhead. I'd stick with what you have, why waste money.

The advantage to lower wattage power supplies is that they are much more efficient at lower loads then a larger power supply. This being said it will take a long time to notice the cost savings.

Ah ok. Then I'll just keep it and use the extra money for the upgrades when I get to that.

Will just give the topic till tomorrow and see if there are any other answers! :)
