set the page file

Hi I have a windows 7 64 Bit Home premium. Custom Built Gigabyte z77x ud5h Motherboard rev 1.0 I have 16 gigs of memory in my system i7 3rd gen processor. My main drive the c drive is a OCZ VERTEX 3 60 GIG SSD i'm wondering if you can tell me what would be the optimal page file size to set for a custom. It says Min allowed is 16 mb. recommended 24516 currently allocated 16344. I right now have the min and max for the ssd drive set to 1024. The reason I did all of this is because I started having issues with programs not loading cause I was using no page file at all. And programs were closing too quickly when I would x out of them. Its says total page file for all drives is 16344. I only have 15.7 gigs free on the c drive. Can I free up disk space by just by lowering the page file even further. Also when I go to delete folders with stuff in them or move them to another drive on my computer I get a message. Saying the action can't be completed because the file whatever.exe is open. Close the file and try again. but I can't close the file. I do not see it open.

Please if you could help me out I would so appreciate it. Thank you!!

More about set page file
  1. Make sure you put the page file on something other than the SSD. There are a number of things you shouldn't have running on the SSD.

How do I do that? Meaning put the page file on one of my other drives. Can you send me an article for windows 7 Home Premium.

The recommended cumulative page file size is between 1x and 1.5x of the installed physical memory. Storage space on SSDs is precious so you may want to shift it entirely to a platter drive if you have one. Shifting it to a platter drive will not have a large impact on performance.
If you have only SSDs and wish to preserve the space you can set the page file size smaller (to around 0.5x installed memory) but I would not set it below 0.25x installed memory to ensure that there's adequate room to create a crash dump.

    Go to this site:http://www.overclock.net/t/1133897/windows-7-ssd-tweaking-guide

And go down on the page till you see "My recommended changes in windows for your SSD"

Follow those settings if you want to make your system a little faster and less likely to burn out your SSD in a year.
