I am trying to install Windows 7 Ultimate (I purchased a disk from Microsoft) on a HP-g070nr. The laptop originally shipped with Windows 8 but I would prefer 7. When I boot from the Ultimate disk everything seems to be going along fine, but when I choose to install it, it says that the CD/DVD driver needs to be installed and asks me to connect another drive or eject my CD and replace with with a CD that has the driver. My problem is I can't seem to find a driver for this. I went to HP website for that particular model and chose Windows 7 and looked at all the drivers, but none of them are for CD DVD. Also, at this point, I'm feeling like it would want the actual inf files and not the executables that HP provides on its support page. Does anyone know how I can get past this problem?

Solution
Its to do with settings in your bios.

If you intend to wipe windows 8 and replace it with windows 7 then you must do a few things in the bios first.

1. Turn the secure boot option to off in the bios if it exists in one of the menus or sub menus.
2. You need to look at the interface mode that is selected for your hard drive and the CD rom drive.
If it is set to Sata mode, change it to AHCI mode.

3. Save the settings before you exit the bios menu screen.

4. Pop your windows 7 install disk in and your ready to rock and roll.
5. Format the hard drive first via the extended drive options in blue if you are not bothered about anything on there.

6. Simply click next and it should start installing with no problems.

There is no option for HD interface to toggle between AHCI or SATA. There are only options to either enable or disable legacy and and then boot sequence of UEFI or Legacy. I have tried both enabling and disabling and still come to the same message about a missing driver for the CD/DVD.
