First things first I just want to point out I am new at overclocking so if this is a dumb question just let me know.

I've overclocked my new Penitum G3258 to 4.0GHz. I ran AIDA64 for an hour with no crashes or problems at all. I think max temps were around 50c but right now I've been watching HWmonitor while gaming and haven't gotten over 40c at all.

I have not touched the voltage at all. It's still at the stock 1.267. My question I suppose would be is this okay? Should I tweak it down at all?

I was going to use MSI OC Genie to hit 4.3GHz but doing some reading many people advised not to use software OC program due to how high they increase voltage.

Any insight would be great!

If the system is stable and you're not getting any BSOD you dont need to raise the voltage and you should't tweak it down below stock especially if overclocking.

voltage is only needed to provide stability to system
if you increase speed then you may need to increase its voltage too only if your cpu is not stable at current speeds, if it is stable then you don't need to increase voltage

increasing voltage is safe as far as you manage to keep cpu temperature below 60'C ( you can use hwinfo32 or 64 sensor to check cpu temperature )

you can even set voltage lower than stock voltage and it will result in lower temperature of cpu which is good but make sure that you cpu is stable at that voltage and speed settings
