I'm currently running Windows 7 Pro 64-bit, and after seeing ways to bring back the Start Menu, am going to take the plunge into Windows 8.1. My hard drive setup includes Windows running off an Adata 128GB SSD, while the majority of my data(documents, music, games) resides on my Toshiba 1TB hard drive. With such a set-up, would I be able to do a simple upgrade, or would this require a clean installation?

If you had everything installed on your D (2nd HDD) they would remain. You may have problems come up with some of them but its hard to tell.

If you have an SSD the OS and main programs you use should be on the SSD if they can fit.

I would honestly uninstall steam and reinstall it on your SSD with your new windows 8

I would do a clean install. I also have multiple hard drives. 512 samsung SSD for my main games and OS. Then dual 1tb WD black carvers.

I have swapped my SSD a couple times and lost everything on the SSD. I saved everything i needed on my dual 1tb drives and just moved it back over.

Just unplug your toshiba drive just to make sure you dont delete the data or something like that.
