Is it safe to use onboard graphics to run games?

I apologize if this is a dumb question, I don't know a lot about computers.

While playing games on my computer, it will restart suddenly without warning. I believe that the graphics card may be overheating. So I removed the graphics card and am waiting on a new one to arrive. Is it safe in the meantime to try to run games on the motherboard graphics? I worry that it will be too intense on the motherboard and possibly damage it. Are there risks to running the computer with the onboard graphics?

Thanks

Well with integrated graphics there actually isn't a card. To my knowledge it's built into the CPU, I used to have onboard graphics and after a while it would exhaust the computer's RAM due to not having its own and force me to restart the computer and there was never any damage to the PC. I'd recommend getting a dedicated GPU to fix this problem as it fixed mine way back when.
