Hello! I'm a complete noob when it comes to audio-related equipment.
I was wondering if anyone knew a good sub-$200 DSLR external microphone solution. I'm aiming for more of a shotgun / boom type microphone, which will be mounted onto my Canon 70D (or a boom pole if doing a large group project).

I was thinking about mixing up a couple combos, involving the Zoom H1 ($100), Rode VideoMic GO ($100), Rode VideoMic ($180) and the Rode VideoMic Pro ($230).

My first idea was to buy the Rode VideoMic GO along with the Zoom H1, totaling $200 and should save some money for lighting. I was assuming this combo worked as the flaws of the VideoMic GO's audio seem to be from having no battery along with being purely run on the 70D's preamp. The Zoom H1 seems to fix those flaws, as well adds versatility to the mix and extra lighting.

My second combo was the Rode VideoMic along with the Zoom H1 ($280). This is basically the first combo, except I will not have any money left over for lighting and other equipment. The original VideoMic is also larger, which is another flaw, but the audio is guarantee to be okay. I will not be able to buy this combo directly, either.

The third option was just to buy the Rode VideoMic Pro by itself ($230). It's light and small like the GO, but with better audio quality. No room for extra lighting, no flexibility with the Zoom, etc.

In short, its either the VideoMic GO + H1 ($200), VideoMic + H1 ($280) or VideoMic Pro ($230).
All help is appreciated, thanks!
