Hey guys! Sorry for the trouble, but I have just finished building my computer!!! ( an hour ago really) How ever, even with everything in there, plugged in, when the screen turns on I get a message saying the current bios settings do not fully support the boot device, and asus ez mode doesnt show them either. I looked around for some answers, but it seemed to vary. Anyway it cant recognize my hdd or ssd, and here is my build.

Amd fx 8350
asus M5A99FX Pro R2.0 motherboard
rosewill blackhawk blue case
Seagate 1 TB 7200 RPM HDD
Crucial 128 GB SSD
Asus r9 280x
hyper 12 evo cooler
corsair cx750m psu.

I have windows seven but havent loaded it on the computer yet. any help would be hugely appreicated! Thanks!

Yes. I assume you mean SATA 6GB cables. ATA cables are ribbons of 80 wires, about 2½" wide. The "6GB" note merely means they will work at data speeds up to the new SATA 6 Gb/s rate, but they will work for ALL SATA data connections. Use one of those for your HDD - maybe you also need another for your optical drive?

I only have one cable attached.... I didn't get any smaller power cables with my psu. However when I disconnect and reconnect the cables I hear it spin up. Does that only mean that it is powered on?

yes. but sata drive need two cables. 1 is power and the smaller one is data. If you dont have the hdd connected to the grey sata port then you will get this message because the motherbd cant see it thru the power cable.
(not sure what you meant about you didnt get any smaller power cables. Did you mean the small sata data cable?)

Here you can see the smaller sata data cable on the left and the sata power cable on the right

Yeah thanks for the response! What I meant was that the psu actually didn't come with any grey data connectors. Hm. Know anywhere I could get some?

You report that each SATA unit has only ONE cable attached to it. When you disconnect it and reconnect, you can hear the drive spin up, so that must be the power supply cable from the PSU.

The SATA data cables (the narrower flat connectors) do not come with a PSU - they normally come with the case. If you don't have any, check with any computer shop. (Some drives come with them but not "bare drives".) And they are NOT all grey - they come in various colours.
