Desktop audio suddenly sounds terrible

Out of the blue the audio from my acer pc sounds low, muffled, distorted, cracking, etc. I've updated drivers all week to no avail. I'm certain that its not the speakers as they work perfectly with other sources. I'm lost...

Tried usb speaker.if it works could be a problem with the integrated card

Have u tried other speakers?are u using a soundcard?

I've tried other speakers and headsets, the problem remains. Using integrated sound. I don't have room for another card so i'm hoping its not that...
