Crossfire 6870 issue, no post

I have a crosshair v formula that will not turn on after putting in a second 6870 to try and setup crossfire. I already checked if each graphics card works individually and they both work, and there is no ram issue. I removed all unnecessary expansion cards and have still had no success with powering on.

Specs:
AMD FX 8530
Asus Crosshair V Formula
16GB Kingston ram @1600
x6 180gb intel 520 SSDs
2 XFX 6870 GPUs
1000w Corsair PSU

(To add to joslaks post, its my PC) I have tried with and without the crossfire bridge, reset the cmos, I have put the cards in different slots, and I have tried different power cables going to the GPU. I do have the extra 4 pin atx connector that the manual states is to ensure there is enough power for running multiple graphics cards. No diagnostic lights are turning on or anything.
