If I remember correctly, you will have to, the 212 plus comes with a tube but it is not pre-pasted.

Would the evo be close to the same as the plus my local store only has the evo?

the evo is the newer and just slightly better. the fan is improved and and the copper heat pipes on the bottom make direct contact with each other. yes you will have to repaste. paste will come with the cooler and you should pick up some 98% pure rubbing alcohol while you are there to clean things up.
