A: No power the rest is a mute point isn`t it since they all require an electrical source.

Flow chart problem fixing.

Thanks I'm the winner!!!!!!!!!!
:D
The motherboard is the main component of computer. :D It is a large rectangular board with integrated circuitry that connects the other parts of the computer including the CPU, the RAM, the disk drives(CD, DVD, hard disk, or any others) as well as any peripherals connected via the ports or the expansion slots.

But electricity has to be generated and that means either from wind farms, dams, or nuclear power plants. Maybe in the future fusion power plants?
What is the main component to a computer? There is no main component, with out one another it won't work. A motherboard, CPU, and ram, all by itself are useless without the other. If you think the monitor is the main component, then a computer can still operate without it, just you can't see what your doing.

We'll do this through elimination
D. Definitely not GPU, you can run a headless system
C. Definitely not a CPU, It cannot perform any functions on its own and without storage media is useless

I'd go with motherboard, it can run BIOS by itself, you can rig it up to be battery powered, and for non-socketed systems it can run entirely by itself because it has a CPU built into the board!

The PSU isn't necessary, you can rig it up with battery power, it won't be nice or pretty but I could do it in about an hour

Definitely the motherboard, SR-71 should keep his trophy unless you've got a damn good reason why it isn't the motherboard!

If you consider that the board is the main component though.
Its still dependent on all the other bits for it to work so in effect none is the main component.
One part does not function alone, but performs a function.
So the answer is a trick question A B C D.

It never said choose one answer did it.

Without the motherboard the CPU has nothing to run.

You can make a system that only uses a microcontroller which is a far cry from a CPU. It wouldn't necessarily be a "computer" as you think of it, but neither would something like the old vacuum tube based computers which didn't have a CPU, but did have a primary board that everything hooked into. There have even been computers that were almost strictly mechanical.

To require a computer to have a CPU presents a very limited view of what is considered a computer and ignores the history of computers that led to what we have today.

Are you trying to imply that our CPU badges shouldn't be earn because we don't even know the CPU is the main component to a system? Well we earn those because we freely give our knowledge to help others with their builds and other problems. To say CPU is the main component to a computer indicates you a have a lot more to learn. Managing to screw in a light bulb does not automatically make you a electrician. As well as just because you think the CPU is the main component, doesn't mean you've know all about computers. And there's new technology comes out all the time, so it's a never ending learning experience.
Also you can learn those badges too when you help others out and get selected as the best Answer.

i should of put the main "brain" of a computer but "today's" computers but yes a motherboard is a main computer component sorry if i confused anyone
