Hey there everyone, I need some help with my new GPU. I got the XFX Black Edition Double Dissipation R9-290X (http://tinyurl.com/maeqhx3) and a new 1000 Watt EVGA SuperNOVA power supply. I put both into my system and can not get the GPU to been seen by the PC. If i go to the system browser and look at the PCIE 3.0 buss it is plugged into nothing comes up. When the system is powered on the card gets power and lights up like it is connected and working but when i log in to the system nothing works. I am currently using the on-board GPU to work and the card just sits there doing nothing. I even tried re-installing my AMD drivers and now the AMD catalyst doesn't work. Does anyone have any ideas to help me?

Yes I have I just did about 5 minutes ago and it doesn't come up on the PCIE 2.0 bus either. Is it possible that the card is DOA but still acts like it works?

What mobo are you using.

Obviously check you have the eight pin power feed from the Psu Connected to the motherboard located near or around the cpu socket.

Fail to do this and the card will not be seen in the Pci-e slot.
This is because the eight pin is a two phase, four of the pins are used for extra power to drive cpu.
And the other four are used to provide 75 of power to the Pci-e slot from the mobo.
Not connected = no card detected even if you have the 12v power feeds to the R9 card its self from the PSU that are required.

If it still fails, some boards require a bios firmware up date to detect new R9 cards so i suggest you check the board makers website, and update to the latest bios firmware.

One or the other will work trust me.

I have the ASRock Z77 Pro4 ATX board and I just updated the BIOS and I double checked the 8-pin connector like you said and it still wont come up on my system browser or my Windows GUI. I also still can't get the AMD catalyst drivers to work properly on me. I have an old 7850 card that i can use and it comes up just fine and everything minus the AMD drivers. Do you guys think it is a DOA card?
