Hey guys
Im having some strange problems upgrading my graphics card and i am currently out of ideas of how to solve it.
I have a fairly weak computer, it has a intel i3 2130 cpu, radeon hd 6670. I also have a 450 W 80+ FSP PSU. The computer was bought manufactured and i couldnt find any tag on the motherboard so I couldnt identify it. The hd 6670 has a very ineffective yet very loud fan so i went looking for a cheap replacement and got a r7 250 and also a cheap CPU cooler(silverstone argon ar01).

So i start with the CPU cooler, detaching the mobo and installing the large heatsink. After im done i reattach all the cables in their correct places and swap the graphics card. So far so good, ive done the same procedure before with the same CPU cooler without problems.

When i start the computer all the fans starts spinning and everything seems fine, but the monitor gets no signal through the VGA cable(i couldnt find a DVI cable) and even more strangely nothing connected trough the USB ports get any power( keyboards, mouse etc). I also try to connect monitor to CPU graphics, but no signal again.
I try opening it and making sure everything is correctly attached, I reattach the graphics card and some other things, but no improvement. I try swapping RAM ports but no improvement again. Still note all the fans are working.

So i remove the new r7 250 and try the old HD 6670 again. At first its just like with the r7 250, no signal and no power to keyboard, etc. Then with the hd 6670 still attached i try CPU graphics and suddenly it starts working. So i connect the monitor to the hd 6670 again and now suddenly its working just like normal. I have no idea what happened.

I try putting in the r7 250 but just like earlier no signal and no power, even though all the fans work. I reattach it and try again but nothing changes.

The only thing i can think of is that I got a faulty GPU, the 450 PSU should be plenty enough for a r7 250. I will try returning it tomorrow, but could there be anything ive missed? As i said earlier im out of ideas.

Sorry for the long boring post but i wanted to be thorough with the details. Looking forward for any advice.

I tried resetting CMOS by taking out the battery and putting it in again but no progress. The computer still works with the old graphics card but whatever i do it refuses to work with the r7 250. I also took the new 250 and tested it in my friends computer and it worked. So for some reason the 250 seems to be incompatible with my mobo.....

You mentioned the mobo might be the problem, could there be some kind of incompatibility problem?
