Hello, I am currently trying to install an HD 6850 into my friends computer. We are having some problems getting it to work; the power is on to it and the fan is running, however when we open up catalyst control center the only options we have in the left menu are "pinned", "presets", "Performance", and "power". We can not view the GPU and alter the clock settings, fan speed, etc. I have run Belarc Advisor to get his system settings:
Windows Vista Home Premium (x64) Service Pack 2 (build 6002)
ECS Nettle2 1.0 Mobo, bus clock: 201 megahertz
2.30 gigahertz AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor
4gb memory
Apparently there is an integrated NVIDIA GeForce 6100 nForce 430 Graphics in the system, could that be messing it up? My friend claims that's the integrated processor graphics and that we did remove the old Nvidea drivers, but im not so sure. The Nvidea 6100 is showing up in Belarc Advisor, but not in our control panel when looking for the old drivers to un-install...
Regardless, the card fits into the x16 slot, but the system is not recognizing it. We tried to install the AMD program which scans your computer for the appropriate drivers, but when we try and run it it says "ATI Catalyst Mobility cannot be downloaded due to incompatible hardware/software on your computer. Your computer does not contain a proper graphics adapter." Would this mean it simply is not detecting the card? Any help would be appreciated. Thank you! My friend has been without a decent graphics card for a long time lol
