So i have been looking for a new processor and have gotten stuck between an i5 4690 and an i5 4670. Now is there anything better about the 4690 than the 4670 other than its clock? If not would money be better spent getting the 4670k since that is about the same price as the 4690?

More about : 4690 4670

Just the tiny clock difference. The best bet would be the 4690k it's typically about the same price as the 4670k which is the second best as long as you overclock

Why not get the 4690K? It's $3 cheaper than the 4670K right now.

If you don't have a Z87 or Z97 mobo, there's no point in getting a K chip. As far as the non-K chips go, for $5 more than the 4670, the 4690 will give you a 100MHz bump and will stay cooler because of improved TIM between the actual chip and the integrated heatsink.

Edit: Add this - http://cpuboss.com/cpus/Intel-Core-i5-4690-vs-Intel-Cor...

Edit 2: I shouldn't have said there's no point in getting a K chip if you don't have an OC-capable board - you'd still get a 4GHz base clock and 4.4GHz turbo even if you can't overclock it. That's probably worth the difference right there IMO.

Assuming you leave them all at stock just go with the 4690. But if you ever want to overclock get the k version, it can be daunting but also very interesting to overclock while providing a nice performance boost

in a nut shell it depends on what your paying for them. your not going to notice a significant amount of performance increase / decrease from either one of them

would you recommend me waiting a few months to be able to afford an i7?

For gaming there is no reason to get an i7

what are you talking about? i7 said there is not much of a difference at all which i reiterated. what does that have to do with anybody waiting months to get something?

sorry that came out wrong. no you should not wait months to get an i7 it is def. not worth it. stick with the 4690...save yourself some money because bumping up to an i7 isnt worth it as far as price / performance goes.
