my files on desktop got rearrange why?

Hello my laptop has alot of files on desktop and they are on a specific order, when i booted it the next day the icons are rearranged? why is that? is it because i was using an external monitor that has a lower resolution rate? then brought it back to laptop screen? so it got messed up? also why did only one file show up on my screen but on the desktop folder the files are still there?

will my files get corrupt? thanks

On the laptop, right click the Desktop then select the View menu and you can choose how you want the icons arranged - automatically aligned or to a grid, etc. You may need to go into the folder to make sure they're all there. The location of the folder depends on which system you're running so post back which it is.

You probably got a virus from the other monitor. Your files will self-destruct in 10... 9... 8...

Seriously, though, you already knew the answer. Your files don't get corrupted by moving them around.
