Hi all,

I have recently bought UPS FSP EP 1000 and I noticed that it is warm to touch (maybe 40-50 °C) and constantly consumes 17 W at idle, even if battery is fully charged and PC + Monitor is switched off completely. Is this normal behavior for UPS or should i RMA it? Thanks.

It's a battery. It will slowly loose it's charge over time unless power is trickled to it to keep it at full capacity. It's also a battery the size of shoe box that has enough power to provide 120v at 400-500w for a bit of time, that's a lot of power, and with power, comes heat.

To clarify...UPS is plugged into power socket all the time. I would expect there is some kind of standby mode and no reason to consume constantly 17 Watts and produce heat at 100% charged battery with no power output (PC + monitor are off).
