Possible thermal paste issue, not sure if I should redo it.

I'm sorry, I know this forum probably gets a lot of thermal paste questions, but I'm having a bit of an issue trying to decide whether or not to redo the paste I just placed. I'm currently working on my second build; I started building yesterday. It's my first time using an aftermarket heatsink, Hyper 212 EVO. I used the pea-sized amount of paste, all was fine there. While I was installing it though, I ending up removing the heatsink because I was having problems placing the retention bracket (it was completely pointless, not sure what I was thinking).
When I took it off, I assumed that I needed to replace the thermal paste. I cleaned the paste off of the heatsink, but I then thought that I'd be able to use the paste on the CPU still because it was only separated from the heatsink for about 5-10 minutes.
I noticed the thermal paste on the CPU spread somewhat more to the right than the left (or at least I thought) so I added a bit on the left edge of the current paste. I was thinking it would make the paste's coverage more even, but I'm starting to think that was another bad move.
The thermal paste hasn't been exposed to any heat yet. I mounted the heatsink and my motherboard is in the case, but I haven't booted my system for the first time yet (still have to hook up cables). I want to backtrack a little bit to breadboard, but I'm extremely nervous about booting because I don't want to damage my CPU.
Do you guys think I should backtrack and reapply the thermal paste, or will I be okay?
Thanks for reading.
