Hi I recently just erased my hard drive to sell it but when i tried to reinstall os x mountain lion it doesn't work, so do I need the original os x to get the Mac up and running.. i checked on the apple site that the early 2008 models come with 10.5.

PS: bought this Imac (Early 2008 model) that already came with Mountain Lion 10.8 so Don't have any other copies of OS X.

You can pick up the installation discs from apple website or in store for a small fee.

You can install any compatible OSX version, so if you had ML then you can just do a clean install of ML. If it supports mavericks then just download it from app store on another mac and burn it to CD/USB.
