I ask because last night i was downloading a game (FFXIV) and mid way through, i had windows 7 detect a harddrive issue. It was on for several hours while i was sleeping.
So this morning i decide to re try the download and it was working much faster (lower load on the servers) and i left home with about 15 minutes remaining in the 11gb download. I asked my wife to check on it and shut it down and she said it was already off.
She hit some keys on the keyboard and it did not boot up.
So few questions:
Does the HD stay on during large file downloads like that?
Can a faulty HD cause a shut down
Or could it be the windows 7 power options? what are the defaults?
