Ok I have a huge problem. My desktop was working in perfect order and condition yesterday with no signs of anything. Then this morning when I went to turn it on, the Asus logo came up, but nothing happened past that and it was stuck there. I turned it off and turned it back on again, but this time there was nothing. My monitor isn't recognizing that it's plugged in to anything, and when I start the computer, the monitor light stays orange (when it should be green to indicate that it's connected). The lights on my mouse and motherboard stay on, but I know when it gets to the login screen because the NumPad light will turn off, and it would only turn on afterwards if you login or if you actually press the NumPad button. So it's not getting to that screen. Because the monitor isn't turning on, I can't see if I'm getting any messages. The only BIOS beeps that I got were from me not having the keyboard plugged in, and the beep stops when I do.

Am I looking at a new motherboard right now? That's the last thing I want to hear but if that's the case then I have to accept it.

My PC is custom built, specs are as follows:
AMD FX-8350
Ultra 650W PSU
GTX 660 GPU
8GB Corsair XMS3s
WD Green 5400RPM 1TB HDD
Asus M5A97 LE R2.0 Mobo

Ok, I removed the RAM and got the POST messages. So I don't think that the mobo is dead. I have a spare CPU on hand, should I give that a try?

Maybe try removing thr Cmos battery and re insert it? If that doesnt work trying the other cpu is a good idea.

Yes, thats' a crucial part. Remove the CMOS and then re-seat it. Have you plugged in the VGA/DVI cables and the power chord of the monitor properly?
Did a bios update?

All cords are plugged in as they should be. I haven't done a BIOS update in approximately four months.

I'll try resetting the CMOS.

And also try doing a bios update if newer version is available.

sounds like the bios got corrupt [and now blank] all you get is the asus splash screen and no matter how hard you try to enter the bios it just don't go past the asus logo?? I had this a long time ago with a asus a7v333 board and never recovered it

I hope you can figure it out I never did

I reset the CMOS and it doesn't appear as though anything has changed.

EDIT: Okay, something did happen. The only light that comes on now is the light from my keyboard. The lights from my mouse aren't coming on. As well, my fans are steadily increasing in RPM. I don't know why. Going to try the CPU.

It's not the CPU. So it's come down to the HDD or the PSU, and the HDD would at least bring me to a Windows boot loop if that were the case.

So it's probably the PSU. Could the PSU do that though?

Are there any rattling sound coming from inside the PSU? Try removing the GPU and then start the system.
