I've tried a SATA and IDE on my Dell PC. Each time I bootup on either drive there are nonstop beeps. When I unplugged either drive and power on the pc there are no beeps.

I figured out that it was a bad usb mouse

There should be a repeating pattern to the beeps, i.e. one long, two short; two short; three short, etc. It's a fault code that can tell you what the problem is. Can you tell what the pattern is? It's obviously related to the drives but that still leaves a lot of possibilities.

Is it only when both drives are connected? Or do you get the beeps when each is hooked up separately? Are you able to boot to your BIOS?

Need more information. The specifications of your build might be helpful also.

It only happens when I try either drive individually. I am able to boot into the BIOS. Neither of the hard drives are detected. I truly think that both hard drives are bad.
