Hi guys,

Need some advice on this please.

I want to purchase the R9 270X Toxic edition for some better gaming, problem is my current set up has a cheap PSU in it and I've read other forums and whatnot and have come to the conclusion that my budget motherboard wont be able to handle the new card either.

So can anyone advise me on a cheap and effective solution?

The card is going to cost me £140 and needs 2 6 pin connectors. Was hoping to get the PSU and mobo for under £40 each.

Don't need anything fancy, just something that will do the job and won't give me any issues in the long run.

I was thinking of buying the XFX Core Edition PRO 550W which I have found for £47 which is a tad over my budget but I've read good reviews about it. Not sure if it has the required connectors though. Any suggestions on if this is a good PSU or any cheaper/better alternatives?

The CPU that I have is an i5 2320, hopefully it shouldn't bottleneck my gaming performance with the GPU. But I would need a motherboard that supports the required 1155 socket.

I would prefer to have USB 3.0 and maybe 4 RAM slots but they're not necessary if it makes the price shoot up.

Current PC specs are:

My PC specs are:

Advent DT1411. (Small form factor, not sure exactly what it is called).
OS: Windows 7 Home Premium, 64bit.
Motherboard: Foxconn H61MXL/H61MXL-K. (Expansion: 2x PCI-E x1)
Processor: Intel i5-2320 @3.0Ghz.
Graphics Card: AMD HD6670 2GB GDDR3.
RAM: 8GB (4GB + 4GB), DDR3, 1333Mhz.
HDD: 1.5TB, 7200rpm SATA.
PSU: 405W (I think?)

Thanks in advance!

You would need a new case also.

Wouldn't it all fit in my existing one?

I know it's a small factor tower but there is still ample room inside, was hoping I'd be able to squeeze it all in....

What if I buy a smaller version of the R9 270X such as the XFX version which only uses 2 fans instead of 3 so it should be fairly smaller?

You need a new case if you want to fit a decent card.

Ah man, that sucks. So much for a budget upgrade.

Ok then, as well as a recommendation on a PSU and motherboard, any recommendation on a case that will fit it all? Decent airflow and preferably around £30? Again, nothing fancy is fine.

Cheers.

Wow, that looks so plain lol. It's got decent cooling but for that price I thought I'd get something that looks a little better than that. Assuming I would have to buy the fans separately though?

I was thinking something on the lines of an Antec Three Hundred Illusion type of case. Not fond of the LEDs but the cooling options are there and the case looks decent. But wanted something a little cheaper and with mesh/dust proofing if possible.

Case:

Mobo:

I myself use the seasonic and I see it is almost 35$ costlier in UK than in my country :(  funny.

Edit: I see you have found the XFX PSU for much cheaper. Go with it.

Thanks for the help so far guys.

Those cases look decent and seem to have more than enough room for the setup that I am looking for.

That PSU however is waaaay over my budget at £75.

Cheers, so that's the PSU out the way.

Now i just need to find an ATX motherboard for under £40 and a case with good airflow for the same price.

An ATX motherboard for under 40 quids would be hard to find in my opinion... I personally love the NZXT Source 210 as a case.
